Steve Benton
Douglasville, Georgia

Hi, I'm Steve Benton a colorectal stage 3 survivor. I'm not sure that I would be a survivor without the support of my wife Beverly and children Chad and Summer, as well as as my support group at LAF and Cyclist Combating Cancer.

In 2005 I was diagnosed with stage 3 colorectal cancer and underwent 6 weeks of radiation, about 16 months of chemotherapy and four surgeries as well.

My son Chad introduced me to CCC via the internet and it is through my family and your group that I was encouraged by reading other people's trials and tribulations fighting this dreaded disease. Thanks so much for each post and encouragement.

As a result of the courage and desire to survive that I found through this group of supporters I think I too have survived. Today three and half years later I am NED, no evidence of disease.

Many thanks to each of you, as well as to Beverly, Chad and Summer, my wonderful family.

Beverly and I both bike and offer our volunteer services with the Guide Dog Foundation as volunteer puppy raisers to assist those with sight lilitations. Both Beverly and Summer were diagnosed as legally blind although helped through lazer surgery. We help raise and train guide dogs, our first, Toma went with me through two surgeries and 12 months of chemotherapy. A service dog from age two months, he was my service dog. Toma is now with a blind perwson in Ft. Walton Beach, Florida. That was three years ago I still miss him.

Thank you Cyclist Combating Cancer.
