I am married for the second time to Anne, the center of my happiness. We were married on 8/8/88 in San Francisco (long story). I have three grown up kids, who have confounded all predictions during their teens by becoming an I.S. Division Manager with two masters degrees, a social worker in Brooklyn, and a mechanical engineer. One granddaughter, one on the way, and two wonderful step granddaughters.

I have two step kids, a son 21 who is still trying to find the right road, and a daughter 18, who is a joy 98 percent of the time. She and I are both fire and rescue volunteers and are taking EMT-B training.

Anne is a nurse with a background in neonatology who is now a director of risk management for a local hospital.

My passion for many years was racing dirt bikes in long distance events here in Pennsylvania and West Virginia. Now I've turned to mountain biking, running, and road cycling.

I've worked for over 30 years for the Society of Automotive Engineers in a variety of positions and plan to retire late this year or early next.

Along with dirt bike racing came soccer coaching at division 1 level and from that, competitive running. I did my best marathon in 1979 in 2:54 the week before running a 34:15 10k. Since then I've run two more marathons, lots of 5 and 10ks.

I've done some mountain bike racing and cycle road racing with mixed results. Being old really helps!! I've done the MS 150 and a metric century and am planning two more 150s and the RTR 100 this year.

I love all things mechanical, particularly cars and bikes. I have two Mustangs, an 88 and an 03.

I've worked with youth for more than 30 years: coaching wrestling, soccer, baseball; serving as an assistant scout master for two boy scout troops, and helping our church with youth education and leading youth work camps.

I love all outdoor activities including cross country skiing, down hill skiing, in line skating, ice skating, biking in all forms, camping/hiking, etc.

I love dogs! We currently have Kodi, a chow, and Holly, a golden.

I want to lead my life to avoid having my cancer define me - ever, particularly in my relationships with family and friends.
