Madison, Wisconsin

Born and raised in beautiful Madison, Wisconsin. Single, never been married and no children. Career mostly revolves around the world of audio and video engineering/production. Worked for the world renown audio and video software developer Sonic Foundry as well as owning and operating a professional audio recording facility. Also, I'm a musician and play mostly drums but also guitar and other instruments in different styles from 'rock' (alt, emo, pop, classic, etc), jazz and classical to Irish/Celtic.

Have always been a cyclist but have had an increased interest since 2000 with increased group rides, training, and finally racing, all in road cycling. I especially love climbing and find it the most pleasurable and challenging aspect of road cycling though I do enjoy the rush of a criterium and a fast paced group ride on the flats.

In 2002 diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma (cLRHD) after surgery to remove an enlarged lymph node from right groin area (not very common). Luckily, it was discovered early at stage 1A. I believe cycling has changed my life in so many positive ways and prepared me physically and mentally in dealing with the diagnosis. I never lost any hair and all my blood tests were absolutely normal during chemo and radiation treatments.

This CCC website is such a wonderful idea and already I have found great comfort from it's existence and from the people who belong that have shared their stories, ideas, knowledge and opinions with me.

Cancer Overview:

General Cancer Type: Lymphoma - Hodgkins

Specific Cancer Type: Lymphocyte-Rich Classic HD (cLRHD)

Treatment Summary:
Enlarged lymph node in groin area. Usually treated with 1 1/2 months of radiation only. Went with suggested anecdotal procedure that involved 2 months of chemo with only 1 month of radiation. This was suggested because longer radiation treatment in the area where the lymph node was removed may increase the possibility of hip replacement later in life. Being a cyclist and drummer I wanted to avoid this. Chemo sucked but got through it. Never lost any hair! Prescribed medicines for nausea didn't work well at all and turned to 'alternative' remedies for the nausea and had excellent results.
