Pam Whitehead
Sacramento, California

I am an architect who practices in Sacramento, CA with my husband Paul Almond. Our firm Sage Architecture was created as a direct reaction to my cancer diagnosis. We decided no time like the present to start our own firm! We specialize in modern green sustainable residences.

We both love to ride and our vacations get planned around riding! Besides riding, we spend our time working on construction projects on our house, and on work for the cancer community. I have been a fundraiser and advocate for the Lance Armstrong Foundation for 7 years and have attended the Ride for the Roses for 6 years.

In 2005, I created the Triumph Fitness Program in Sacramento(www.triumphfitnessprogram.com) which is a fitness program specifically designed for cancer survivors. The program has expanded to two fitness centers in Sacramento and also to the city of Modesto. At the 2008 San Jose Livestrong Challenge, I captained Team Triumph.

Cancer Overview:

General Cancer Type: Uterine

Specific Cancer Type:

Treatment Summary:
I was diagnosed in June of 2000 through a pap smear during a regular annual physical. On July 18th 2000, I had a radical hysterectomy. I consider this to be my survivorship anniversary. Due to my cancer being caught so early, I was not required to have chemo or radiation. I have been required to take estrogen since my surgery because I was so young when I had my hysterectomy.

In addition to my own cancer, many of my family members are also survivors:

Mom - Breast cancer 2000, Uterine Cancer 2002
Dad - Cancer of the larynx 2004
Stepmom - Bladder Cancer 1999
Stepbrother - Multiple Myeloma 2004
Cousin - Breast Cancer 2001
Cousin - Lung Cancer 2008
Stepdad - Leukemia 1987 (Succumbed in 1989)
