Originally from St. Louis, MO. Went to Wake Forest University in North Carolina where I studied technical theatre/design. I'm married, and a stay at home mom to my three boys, ages 17, 14, and 7. Active in my church as a youth group leader and with the worship team.
Cancer Overview:
General Cancer Type: Breast Cancer
Specific Cancer Type: Ductal Carcinoma in Situ (DCIS)
Treatment Summary:
Even though my cancer was non-invasive, it was multifocal, so a mastectomy rather than a lumpectomy was recommended. A sentinel node biopsy was done to be sure there was no spread to the lymph nodes. Because the cancer was non-invasive, no chemo or radiation was required. However, I am among the substantial percentage of women who experience chronic pain following a mastectomy, so I am in ongoing treatment for that. The doctors expect that that may be permanent.
